How the quiz works
You are shown a Pokémon rendered as a solid black silhouette and pick the right one out of four choices. You can restrict the pool by generation to drill only the range you want. Your streak and best score are kept in the browser, and a correct answer links straight to that Pokémon’s Pokédex page.
Questions and ranks
A set has 10 questions with 4 choices each. The wrong choices are drawn from the same pool and always have a different Pokédex number from the answer. Guessing every question at random would score 2.5 on average. At the end you get a rank based on your score:

Question pool by generation
The pool has 1,289 entries: 1,025 National Pokédex species plus 264 alternate forms whose type or base stats differ from the original (Mega Evolutions, regional forms and so on). Purely cosmetic variants are not used. Generation is decided by National Pokédex number, so alternate forms belong to their base Pokémon’s generation.

FAQ
Can I limit the quiz to certain generations?
Yes — choose a generation and only Pokémon from that range appear. It is handy when you want to learn one specific generation or get used to a new one.
Is my score saved?
Your streak and best score are stored in your browser, so they are still there next time. Nothing is sent to the server, so no account is needed.
Any tips for recognising a silhouette?
Look at what sticks out of the outline rather than the overall blob. Tails, ears, wings and horns are highly distinctive, and combining them with body size and the number of legs narrows the candidates a lot.
