How the EV solver works
In survive mode the solver finds the smallest EV investment that guarantees you live a set number of hits; in KO mode it finds the smallest investment that guarantees the KO in a set number of hits. Because EVs only affect a stat in steps of 4, the answer is always a spread with no wasted points. The 510 total and 252 per-stat caps are respected.

What are the EV limits?
252 in a single stat and 510 across all six. A stat gains one point per 4 EVs, so 252 is the largest useful investment with no leftover points.
Should I invest in HP or in Defense?
It depends on the actual damage you take, so there is no single answer. HP helps against both physical and special hits, but if you only need to survive one side, loading the matching defense can cost fewer EVs. This tool tries both and returns the smallest total.
What does “guaranteed to survive” mean?
It means you survive even the highest of the 16 damage rolls, so no unlucky roll can knock you out. Conversely, KO mode returns a spread that secures the KO even on the lowest roll.
