Tera Type Optimizer
Choose a Pokémon to compare its defensive matchups (weaknesses, resistances, immunities) and offensive coverage for every Tera type, ranked to cut the most weaknesses. Based on the Gen 9 type chart.
Lycanroc
Rock“Best defense” scores each type as resistances + immunities×2 − weaknesses×2. In practice, also weigh ability, item and moves.
How the ranking works
Terastallising replaces your defensive typing with that single type. Weaknesses, resistances and immunities are recounted for all 18 types and ranked by how stable the defence becomes. Sorting by coverage instead ranks types by how many opponents they hit super effectively.
Defensive score = resistances + immunities × 2 − weaknesses × 2
FAQ
How are the Tera types ranked?
After Terastallizing, the Pokémon becomes that single type. Each candidate is scored as resistances + immunities×2 − weaknesses×2, so types that remove weaknesses while adding resistances rank highest.
How do I read offensive Tera types?
Switch to “Offensive coverage” to rank types by how many defending types their moves hit super-effectively. A Tera type matching one of the Pokémon's original types keeps STAB.
Which generation does it use?
Terastallization is a Gen 9 (Scarlet & Violet) mechanic, and matchups follow the Gen 9 type chart.
